Katherine Lorenz
Katherine holds a
B.A. in Economics and Spanish from Davidson College and has spent the
last five years working in international development. She spent two
summers with AMIGOS,
as a volunteer in Nicaragua in 2001 and as a Project Supervisor in
Oaxaca in 2002.
Shortly after her
summers with AMIGOS,
Katherine returned to Oaxaca where
she co-founded Puente a la Salud Comunitaria, a
non-profit organization working to eradicate malnutrition in rural
Oaxaca, Mexico, through the integration of amaranth into the local
diet. Katherine is now the Executive Director of Puente, a primary
partner agency of the AMIGOS Oaxaca Project. Additionally, she serves
on the AMIGOS’
Program Committee.
Katherine is an
active member and leader of the Next Generation Sustainable Rural
Development Subgroup of the Synergos Institute (GPC). She also serves
on the Grants Committee, the Executive Committee, and the Audit
Committee of the George and Cynthia Mitchell Foundation, while also
serving on the Boards of the Endowment for Regional Sustainability
Science and the Amaranth Institute.
