Lorena Donnelly Memorial Fund

Lorena Donnelly, the beloved late wife of former AMIGOS Board Chairman, George Donnelly, sadly lost her fight to cancer at the age of 56 last year.  She was a spirited supporter of Amigos de las Américas for decades. AMIGOS’ friends and families have countless treasured memories from galas   to private moments where she was the brightest light in the room.  Her incredible presence is missed by all whose lives she touched.  Therefore, the Foundation for Amigos de las Américas and the Donnelly family have established a memorial fund in her honor, and donations have already been forthcoming. Lorena’s light will always burn brightly through the continuing work her endowment will promote for generations to come.

About Lorena
A native of Costa Rica, Lorena had a beautiful life filled with motherhood, service and memorable friendships with every person with whom she came in contact. Her most treasured times were spent surrounded by family and friends in her home enjoying her famous cooking and her sharp wit and humor. She had countless friends across the Americas and indeed across the globe.  Lorena is missed, remembered, and loved by all whose lives she touched and by those   who were fortunate to have known her.

The Lorena Donnelly Memorial Fund will further AMIGOS’ mission of youth leadership and service in Latin America, touching countless lives throughout the Americas.  We intend to work with the Donnelly family to build a substantial principal in this fund, with the income supporting a variety of AMIGOS activities that the family believes would be special to Lorena.
